Dear teachers,

Do these 2 expressions have the same meaning?

blank look = vacant stare ?

Thanks,

blank look/stare can be used either when the person is thinking of nothing OR when they are completely confused (most likely didn't understand the question)
"When Bill asked Sally how to do a loop in a batch file, she just gave him a blank look."

vacant look/stare is ONLY used when the person is thinking of nothing (daydreaming, mental vegetable, etc)

Dear Hela
Both have the same meaning ( a look that shows no feeling of understanding or interest) , only that " vacant stare" is used in written English.
