and, bring up, act, possibly,for
Dear teachers,
I have five questions to ask:
No.1
If the family is the number one institution in Italian life, church will be the next one,____________ the Caffe rating the third place.
a. and b. with
The key is "b". 'a' isn't correct because if I use 'and' then the latter part of the sentence should be:
and the Caffe rates the third place. Is that right?
No.2
They are ___________ as babies in the Church.
a. cultivated b. trained c. drilled d. brought up
The key is 'd', which I think is best choice. My question is: Is it correct to say "....as babies"?
No.3
Although many of the great churches are museums of art, they always __________ as places of refuge.
a. stand b. act
The key is 'a'. But I think 'b' is also possible. Is that right?
No.4
You will________ feel the power of the Church in Italy whether you are Catholic, Protestant, Jewish, or others.
a. surely b. possibly
The key is 'a'. But I think 'b' also means 'certainty'. Is that right?
No.5
A curious person is one who concerns himself_other people's business.
a. about b. for
The key is 'a' which means "to be busy with" but I think 'b' is also possible because that means he is worried about other people business. Is that right?
Looking forward to hearing from you.
Thank you in advance.

No.1
You're right, but the test sentence is an odd one, wouldn't you agree?
No.2
'as babies' is fine; they are 'brought up' or reared by their parents.
No.3
Act doesn't work in that particular context.
No.4
Possibly expresses a certain degree of uncertainty.
No.5
You can "have a concern for someone/something" but you can't "concern yourself for someone/something.

Hi Soup,
Thank you very much for your explanation.
No.1
I don't know whether the sence is odd or not because I don't know much about Italian life.
No.3
Could you please kindly explain why 'act' doesn't work in that paricular context?
Looking forward to hearing from you.
Thank you in advance.
Have a nice weekend!
