    Default The word TWILIGHT

Please anyone help me about this word: TWILIGHT, my questions regarding it are:

    1. What is the exact meaning(s) of this word?
    2. Does anything like twice or two means by the first syllable 'TWI'? an explanation would be highly appreciated.
    3. How will I pronounce it? TWEEE or TWY? or are both correct?

    Thanks in advance!

Yes it did come from twice light, but it meant divided twice, or half light. It was used for mornings and evenings originally, but later only for evening twilight.

    It is pronounced /twai-lait/.
