    Probably, 'hello' would be enough.

    There is no such thing as 'demonstrative article' in the English language. As far as I know there are two articles: the definite article (the) and the indefinite one (a). Grammarians also single out the 'zero article'.

    I read this term in a book on toefl. Here is its quote: In the example, the highlighted words are a phrase containing a demonstrative article (this) and a noun (purpose).

    'This' is a demonstrative pronoun.

    There are two sorts of demonstrative:

    demonstrative adjective (as in "this purpose") [sometimes called a 'demonstrative determiner']
    demonstrative pronoun (as in "this is the purpose")

    * Demonstrative determiners
    o I think this sandwich is very tasty.
    o Follow that car!

    * Demonstrative pronouns
    o It doesn't get any better than this.
    o That's amazing!

    I know. Those are terminological differences.
    Here is another division: noun-pronouns and adjective-pronouns.
    And here is one of the arguments: adjectives do not have the category of number in English. How come that 'this' have it if it's an adjective?

    Some grammarians call "this," "that," "these," and "those" dermonstrative articles.
    [I call them definite determiners.]
