over/all along over/in comparirison with/as compared to
Dear teachers,
Would you be kind enough to share with me your partiality for the expressions in bold in the following sentences?
1.1. The steel industry is widely distributed over the country.
1.2. The steel industry is widely distributed all along the country.
2.1. The sodium atom is favored slightly over the hydrogen ion.
2.2. The sodium atom is favored slightly in comparison with the hydrogen ion.
2.3. The sodium atom is favored slightly as compared to the hydrogen ion.
Thank you for your efforts.
Regards,
V.

Re: over/all along over/in comparirison with/as compared to
1.1 would be perhaps better as "throughout the country." "Over" works not with the industry, but with the pollution it spreads.
1.2 You would only use "all along" a river, or the coast. The fishing industry is widely distributed all along the eastern seaboard.
2.1/2.3 - I prefer "over" but if you wish to use a comparison cognate, then it should be "when compared to"
