Something that turns you on arouses in you excitement. Also, to turn on means to switch on the TV. Watching TV is not exactly living in the fast lane; it is boring.
The author says he has been living in a dead-end relationship with his spouse.
2. The author thinks he is emotionally strong when he is not.
3. He was more disorganised than usual.

You know what a Lilo is?
It is a plastic bag filled with air that people use on the beach for lying on.
When gas is pumped into it, we say it gets inflated, which means it gets distended (bigger).
'Inflated' is used in a wider sense to mean something is bigger than it should.
Inflated prices -- expensive (cost big amount of money)
inflated sense of invulnerabilty -- inflated means your invulerabilty is bigger in your head than it is in reality

Turnpikes have several lanes, of which the innermost (the fast lane) have the fastest traffic. In a methaphorical sense, living in the fast-lane means the pace of life is very fast, that is, lots of exciting things happen to you in a short period of time.
Couch potatoes, who spend a significnant part of their lives behind the TV, gets few stimuli; their life is not very interesting.
to turn on somebody means to excite them, usually sexually, but not necessarily.
TV gets 'turned on' more than I do -- structural ellipsis, which means: do = I get turned on.
TV gets 'turned on' more than I get turned on.
TV is turned on = boredom (more)
I am turned on -- excitement
I hope this helps you.
