Hi,
I just wonder if the following sentence is acceptable:
'Mary is a flight attendant, and has a lot of chances to go abroad.'
Thanks
I'd remove the comma.
Mary is the subject of both "is" and "has" and you don't separate the subject from the verb with a comma.
I agree.
In another forum, there was a thread that went on forever about the difference between "chance" and "opportunitiy" that gives me the willies thinking about it.
It's easy for a native to say "this one sounds better" but it was really hard to try to explain why and when! If you've got a simple explanation, I'll be thrilled!
