'scatology' is an interest in or preoccupation with excrement and excretion.
It derives from a Greek word 'skat' meaning ‘dung’.
'scat' is the shortened version of 'scatology' and used as a noun.

There's also 'scat' meaning 'go away', 'clear off', often said to scare small animals away.

    and

'scat' as improvised jazz singing in which the voice is used in imitation of an instrument.

There is also "to scat" in music, meaning to replace words in a song with nonsense syllables or more formally: improvised jazz singing in which the voice is used in imitation of an instrument.

Context should indicate which is the correct meaning.
