Regarding the usage of "s" in this sentence ?

Check this sentence and tell me whether I should put "s" with word "tell" in this sentence or not.

Sentence : I believe so not b’cause my gut feelings or my virtue of prevision tell/tells me to do so.

With a compoun subject linked by "or" make the verb agree with the closer subject. In this case, the second subject is singular, so you should use "tells."

However, I can't really understand your sentence. It's missing the second part. I believe so not because x or y, but because... z.

Thanks barb for answering, I was thinking on the lines of third person etc. And yes, you r correct that something is missing because I didn't post the question to which I'm replying. Regarding z part I edited it because I thought answerer might get confuse by it. lolz
