gas, petrol, coil - basic goods?
When you want to invest on stock exchange it is important to to be up to date with the price of basic things like fuels, etc is there any term in English for gas, petrol, coil? basic goods?
Re: gas, petrol, coil - basic goods?
petrol (gas in the USA), diesal, and oil are petroleum products.
On the stock exchange, these are subsumed under the category Energy, but would then be listed by the individual companies producing the oil or other forms of energy.
Since the 'gas' (vapour) that is used in gas stoves and gas fires - "natural gas" -is a by-product of oil drilling, you will see companies called, for example, Marabel Petroleum & Gas Co.
(I don't know whether there are still places in the world producing gas by burning coal.)
PS I did a quick Google, and Seattle is the last place in the USA to be doing so.)
