Please can you explain how this works and if I have done this right , thankyou.
Rewrite the following table so that it is clearer (hint: look at the pronouns).
1. I'm going to
2. he's
3. they're
4. we're
5. she's
6. you're
a) send him a birthday card
b) take me out
c) cook me an Indian meal
d) buy him a microwave
e) send them a newspaper in English
f) help us decorate our house
My answers: 1(b) , 2 (a) , 3 (e) , 4 (f) , 5 (c) , 6 (d)
This is not a straight matching excercise; it asks you to rewrite. 2 & 5 don't match with anything, because 's/he is' would be followed by -ing and 's/he has' by a past participle. 3, 4 & 6 all require -ing, so the only one that works without changes is 1.Originally Posted by Moreen
You have to change the verbs. Also 'I'm going to take me out' doesn't work very well.
Try it like this
I'm going to send him a birthday card.
He's going to cook me an Indian meal.
They're going to help us decorate our house.
etc
The subject and object pronoun shouldn't be the same. You could say 'He's going to send him a birthday card', but it is not a clear sentence.![]()
