## fractions

Hello, there
Would you tell me if it is common for people to say five thirds or seven fifths? I think people normally say one and two thirds or one and two fifths. Am I right? Besides, I'd like to know which of the following is correct.
(a) three-fourth spoon of sugar
(b) three-fourths spoon of sugar

Yes. Rarely, a quantity of more than one can be expressed purely as a fraction. For example, when I was a child there was a coin worth half a penny - an old penny, that is. A price of one and a half pence could be called 'three ha'pence'. But this is a very rare (and obsolete), exceptional case.
