Re: College or University?
Why don't you look up the words in your dictionary?
college - Definition from Longman English Dictionary Online
<college>
American English a large school where you can study after high school and get a degree [= university British English]

This is not acceptable. Restrain your language in replying, even if you don't like the reply you get. It is perfectly fair to suggest that maybe a little time doing research via dictionaries is not a bad idea before asking for help.
If you had done a search for college and university on the forum, you would have found this thread:this: http://www.usingenglish.com/forum/as...niversity.html

Re: College or University?
Perhaps Delapoma has looked in several dictionaries and still has some doubt, and wanted to ask us to explain better. I say this knowing that in the Romance languages, the cognates "collège", "collegio" etc. normally signify what we would call a primary school; in some jurisdictions (Canada, Commonwealth), a college is often a post-secondary trade school; in others (USA) it is a university, still in others (la Francophonie) it can be a secondary school.

Very likely, but he still needs to exert self-control in response. If he has done all you suggest, then he might at least have said so in the first place. Context is a great help to knowing what sort of answer is required.
And as to his comments, this is not a blog but a public forum, so he has been over-reactive to Daruma.

Oh, please don't. I love this guy! That was about the most appropriate response in the entire thread.
