Signed a contract... Please, can anyone check my writing?

I have signed a contract which will start on 2010 and I am applying for temporary opportunity and I wanted to write something like this:

Having signed a contract for 18 months in India starting on January 2010, am looking for a temporary opportunity and very interested in your advertisement.

Is it correct?

Perhaps I have to use underwritten instead signed?
