| first one is more often used in response to a query "Why didn't you warn me about the traffic?" "I did warn you!" the second one is used more by itself in an 'i-told-you-so' capacity > After Bill slipped on the ice and broke his arm, his father scolded him saying 'See? I warned you that the path was slippery. But did you listen to me? No! You just had to go and find out for yourself didn't you! I hope you learned your lesson young man. Maybe now you'll listen to what I have to say in the future Mr. Know-It-All.' |
