be/get used to + gerund/infinitive
Hi there everyone,
I have a question that is confusing me. I know the correct way of using be/get used to is with the gerund, as in:
I am used to wearing a suit for work.
My question is: Why is it wrong to use the infinitive? [So, I understand why it is correct to use the gerund, I just need to know why does using the infinitive makes it all wrong ]
THX.

It's because, in this case, used to is a complex adjective, comprised of the past participle used and the preposition to.
I am used to wearing a suit for work.
vs
I used to wear a suit for work.
