Unhappy help with "them", when just mentioned 2 different nouns

Hello. Very new to this forum, so I hop I've posted this in the right place.

Basically, I'm a song writer, but I'm struggling with a certain couple of lines.

The part that is bugging me is:

"I'd like to know if it's all that far
from my desires to my words
I've seen them many times.. "

When reading this, do you assume I am saying: I've seen my words, or my desires. Because I am trying to talk about my desires, but I cannot seem to word it correctly.. Any help would be appreciated :)

    Welcome harreh

The pronoun them refers back to the closest noun, words:
I'd like to know if it's all that far
from my desires to my words
I've seen them many times ...
I can't think of a way to reword it without changing the entire last line. Sorry.
