Default I am looking for your expert opinion 2

Dear teachers,

Would you be kind enough to tell me your expert opinion concerning the following 16 sentences?

1. When he heard about it, he came right out and put his foot down hard.
he put his foot down = he takes a firm state, he takes a firm position
2. He will never again set foot in their house after the welcome he received.
set foot in = enter
3. Don’t you dare set foot in my house again.
4. She has never set foot on foreign soil.
set foot on = step on
5. The dog lay at his feet.
lay at his feet = stand at one’s feet
6. This morning I have to put my best foot forward.
put one’s best foot forward = try for the best possible impression, make a good start
7. You may be sure he’ll put his best foot foremost.
8. It is high time to get a foot in the door.
to get a foot in the door = to complete the first step in a process, to have an opportunity
9. Don’t put your foot in your mouth.
Put one’s foot in one’s mouth = say something foolish, or tactless
10 . She put her foot into it quite unwittingly.
put one’s foot into = involve, implicate, put one’s word in, meddle in
11. She have to keep her oar out in order to avoid any misunderstanding.
keep one’s oar out = sit back, sit by, stay clear of involvement
12. She always lands on her feet.
land on one’s feet = manage to get out of difficulties
13. She was simply carried off her feet.
Carry off = carry away = remove from a certain place or to handle successfully
14. It will take him some time to find his feet.
find one’s feet = to be able to acclimatize to a new situation.
15. They took to their feet before we could stop them.
take to one’s feet = stand to one’s feet
16. Better the foot slip than the tongue.
it is better to hurt one's self by falling (slip of the foot) than to hurt someone else by saying something one shouldn't (slip of the tongue)

2) but the sentence would be better: he will never set foot in their house again...........

4) Not really. The meaning is that she has never been to different country.

5) No, the dog was lying down.

6)

7) Looks good, but not an expression I have ever heard.

8) Better to create an opportunity

9)

10) Not really. To tell somebody something, they are not supposed to know. In this case without knowing a relevant fact.

11)

12)

13) No. It is closer to being carried away by her emotions.

14) But the correct sentence is: It will take him some time to find his feet.

15) No. They ran away before we could stop them.

16) But not a phrase I have heard of.
