Dear teachers,

Would you be kind enough to tell me whether there is some difference between the following terms “ “pigs in a blanket”, “wiener winks”, “kilted sausages”, sausage rolls” and “hot dogs”?

In my humble opinion there is no need for that lavishly verbiage.

In my humble opinion, there is no need for that such lavish verbiage.

'verbiage' is not the appropriate word, since it means "uses too many words or excessively technical expressions". Perhaps, 'pretentiously obscure'.
By your standards, as intended in 'too lavish a verbiage", then how would 'Lancashire Hot Pot' and 'Shepherd's Pie' rate?. Let's not even venture near 'Spotted Dick".

Apart from the equivalence of 'kilted sausages'** and 'pigs in a blanket', the items are very different.
Such items are served as hors d'oeuvres at a cocktail party or when drinks are being served. Fancy names are called for at 'fancy dos'.

**the Scots are a very proud, independent nation, and have their own name for 'pig in a blanket'.
