Default Alternate and simple term to "laid off"?

Eg: I have lost my job. Can I say "my company laid off me from the job" ?

Could you suggest me a simple and correct sentence?

Thank you for your consideration.

- I have lost my job!
- What happened?
- The company fired me.
- Why?
- My boss caught me red-handed?
- What did you do?
- Does it matter?

- I have lost my job!!!
- what happened?
- I got laid-off (the company can not afford a certain amount of employees)
- Sorry to hear that.

"My company laid off me from the job."
I think that this sounds awkward.

I would say: "I got laid off."
lay sboffto stop employing sb because there is not enough work for them to do make sb redundant: 200 workers at the factory have been laid off.
