    Default These Ones

By itself, there” s nothing wrong with the word “ones” as a plural: “surrounded by her loved ones.” However, “this one” should not be pluralized to “these ones.” Just say “these."
I don't get it, so this is wrong?
    These cars are okay. (correct)
    1. These ones are okay. (Ones=Cars. So this is incorrect?)

    Correct.

Remember? The word this is singular, and the word these is plural:

    This one.
    These ones.

    This car.
    These cars.

Here's a trick to help you remember:

The word this has one vowel. one is singular, so this is singular, too.
The word these has two vowels. two is plural, so these is plural, too.

What does the quote below mean? What do they mean by it shouldn't be pluralized to 'these ones'? What do they mean by just say 'these'? If I just use 'these', I have no subject then?

    1. These ones are okay. (This sentence is correct right? If not, why?)

    Thanks.

    1. These ones are okay. (This sentence is correct right? If not, why?)

    Thanks.
    1. is OK if 'ones' is there for emphasis. For example,

Pat: These cars are parked illegally.
    Sam: Which ones?
    Pat: These ones, here. (OK)

The structure is as follows: demonstrative pronoun + plural noun + adverb.

But if there's no need for emphasis, then 'These' alone says it all on its own, so there's no need to repeat the noun, or replace it with 'ones':

Pat: These cars are parked illegally.
    Sam: Which ones?
    Pat: These, here. (OK)

'These' is substantive: it functions as a noun.
