Question How to reply to "thank you"

Hi

When I work in customer service, such as waiter, what should I say back when a customer say "thank you" to me? (except "you're welcome")

Thanks for any help.

You can say "Not at all", "Don't mention it" and "No problem"

I beg you, don't say "no problem." I find that SO rude! I am your customer and I didn't think it was a problem to come to you fix something for me or to order a proeduct, so I don't need your assurance that it was not one.

You can also just thank the customer for choosing your company. "Glad I could help and thank you for choosing ABC Bank." "It was my pleasure and thank you for choosing to shop with XYZ."

You will hear:

You’re welcome
Don't mention it
Not at all
My pleasure
Sure
No problem
Okay/It’s O.K./O.K.
Yes/Yeah
Any time

Question Re: How to reply to "thank you"

Should I say "no worries" back to customers?

Well, if they are costumers, it's always safe to be polite without being too formal.

- Thank you.
- It's always a pleasure. (smile, never fails, they always smile back)

Okay/It’s O.K./O.K. - where have you heard this? "Thank you" "Okay."

Yes/Yeah - same - this makes no sense. "Thank you." "Yeah."
The last two there would sound extremely odd to me.

In business settings, I've commonly heard "Thank YOU" back at the person. Again, my suggestion, especially on the phone, is to formalize it a bit: Thank you for... choosing us/shopping with us/giving us the opporutnity to address this issue/etc.

I agree with this - and I find "no worries", if anything, even worse.

Certainly. That's probably better (more formal) than "yeah" or "okay" which could come across as quite rude. Or you might say "of course" instead of "no problem". I also agree with saying "thank you" back, but you might add an emphasis like "No, thank you" or "Oh, thank you."
