1. Is the below sentence correct?
"Chips and beans is her favorite appetizer."

2. "None but his supportes believe his story." -- Is it correct?
Let me know whether "believe" agrees to the plural verb "supporters". However,as I know, NONE is singular and must take singular verb.

3. I think, in below sentence, "it" is referring to the precedent sentence. Isn't it?
On the Great Plains, nineteenth-century settlers used mud and grass to build their homes, doing it without timber and nails.

Informed choice between singular and plural in this case comes down to the author's view of the subject. Singular is used when the subject is thought to be served as one dish as opposed to the choice of plural in case '(c)hips and beans' are regarded as compound.

When individuality is being emphasized (that is, =‘not one’), a singular form of the verb is used:

“She is difficult to describe physically - none of her features is particularly striking.”
(That is, of all her facial features, not one is striking.)

(That is, not one table, not a single other table was occupied.)

When you are considering things as a collective group (the notion of a sub-group within a larger group), use the plural:
“She had many boyfriends and love affairs in her younger years, but none were very serious.”
