The conversion into passive voice

I have this sentence:
They offered her some interesting work.

Which variant is right? Maybe can I use both ones?

1. Some interesting work was offered to her by them.
2. She was offered some interesting work by them.

Passive voice is used when the focus is not on the actor but the receiver of the action. Therefore, we tend to omit the former.

The original active sentence sounds best, or drop the adjunct (by them) at the tail end of the passive sentence.

Yes, you can! They are, respectively, regular and irregular forms of the same passive sentence. In a regular passive, the direct object of the (putative) original active sentence assumes the role of subject, whereas, in an irregular passive, an indirect object in the original instead becomes the subject and the original object remains in a complemental role.

Note also that the term 'irregular' does not betoken any kind of substandard or 'deviant' usage: it simply, like the term 'irregular verb', denotes a different class of passive construction. In cases where the original sentence contains an indirect object, it is in fact the more common and natural choice for a passive transformation.
