Default heavier

a. I have a heavier than one pound sweater.
b. They have better than a fifty fifty chance.
c. They have healthier than average kids.
d. They have cheaper than a newspaper books.
(Maybe: They have cheaper-than-a-newpaper books.)

Are the above sentences grammatical?
