Default informtion / them

There is no plural of "information". But can we use "them" when we refer to this word?
Example: The information are important. Many people need it/them?

No, the word "information" is always grammatically singular, so you need to use a singular pronoun AND you also have to use the singular form of the verb in your sentences:
The information is important. Many people need it.
