Hi,
Could someone please help me.
I have seen many people write for ex "my age is 19 years" and it really doesn't sound right to me for some reason. Perhaps because I am only used to people saying "my age is 19". Some people even say "my age is 19 years old".
I am really puzzled and unsure of these phrases now. Can they be used?
"my age is 19 years"
"my age is 19 years old"
it sounds odd to me
Thanks for your help.
Those two are, respectively, excessive and wrong. In the second case, age does not have an age; it makes no sense.
This doesn't mean people don't use them, especially if they have a mental image of a form with those words on them.
But it's seldom necessary even to say 'My age is N'; 'I am N' usually does the job, with context supplying the words 'years old'.

Thanks for your answer and sorry about the copy. I didn't see it anywhere after many hours so I though something gone haywire.
Cheers.
I did see one post; something had gone wrong with it as I couldn't answer it as the buttons wouldn't open. I deleted it. Please be careful not to post the same thing repeatedly as it will activate the spam filters. Your answer to Bob was sent for moderation presumably because the repeat posts had alerted the software.![]()
