Default period of time?

Hello,
We are two Danish girls who are writing an English paper. Is it possible to write "Apartments for rent for a longer period" or should it be "Apartments for rent for a longer period of time"? Hope you can help.

Yours sincerely,
Trine and Christine

I would say, for example:
I am renting the apartment for a longer time.

(In British English an apartment is a flat.)

Iwas looking at it as a phrase for an advert.

Undoubtedly. "Apartments for rent for a longer period of time" is, however, a phrase that is totally foreign to me. I am used to seeing only "Apartments for rent (or lease)". It would be nice if our question posers could provide a more detailed explanation of what they are looking for.
