I'm done
I'm done.
What does it mean?
I can't give any context (just don't remember) but hear it every now and then.

Re: I'm done
Depends so much on context (our favourite word):
I'm finished >> Right, that's it. I've ticked all the boxes, so I 'm done
I'm exhausted >> I've run twentyfive miles today. I'm done.

Re: I'm done
Only the first of the two cases is common in AE.

Re: I'm done
Still struggle with understanding.
I'm done = I have finish something, e.g. I have completed the task so I'm done and can go home now.
or:
I'm done = Due to their rash decission I have lost everything and I'm done, I have nothing now.

The first one.
Teachers, Am I mistaken or 'I am done' (may??) imply that something unpleasant is finished?
Are you done?
I am done talking to you.
Thanks

Re: I'm done
Today I saw a couple saying we are done after playing roulette. They won some money. It was a film.

Re: I'm done
I don't know, maybe they played for a long time, like hours. I am not sure it has such connotation.

Re: I'm done
No, in AE done just means through, finished completed, not negatively.

Yes, they might have played for a long time or just decided they had enough and it was time to go home.

I've just looked the meaning of the word "through" up because I didn't know it had other meaning to what I have already known. I mean I did not now it could mean finished: "are you through with the paper?"
Thanks konungursvia!
