    Default make oneself understood

    Hi,

You can speak French and you can speak to French people and understand them in French.
So, can I say: You can make yourself understood in French. ? Is this correct?

Couldn't be this expressed by a shorter way?
(Couldn't be this expressed shorter way? - sounds to me better; ?)

    Thanks a lot,
    T.

P.S. Will you please point out to any mistake I have made in this message? Thank you.

You can also say you "get by in French" which means the same thing as se faire comprendre.
