Default Take a lap, stop the traffic

Hi, I heard people say "take a lap" & "stop the traffic". What do they mean? Thank you.

    We really need context.

What were the circumstances in which they were said?

    New euphenisms.
Take a lap means losely go and think about it for a while; then come back to argue.
Stop the traffic means 'quiet!' I can't think for all the noise.

They are used as a polite alternative to more stronger complaints!

    The Contexts:

    1) A guy said to his friend in a bar, "Get a drink or take a lap."

    2) A guy said a woman, "New dress? You stop the traffic."

The first one, I don't know.

The second one: You look so good that you still stop traffic as the drivers all come to a halt to drink in your beauty. (It's hyperbole, obviously.)

I just saw something on a website:

"Take a lap around the mall. Walking for 25 minutes burns about 100 calories. And when it's cold outside and you don't belong to a gym, what better place to walk than the mall?"

Does it mean take a walk?
