Please help-Is this a complete sentence
IS the sentence "I know how many." complete? Sounds like it is missing something and it is slang.
Also to clear some confusion I am having, for questions asking "how many", how many is asking for us to explain whether or not there are few or many items or things. It is not a 'what' question which typically askes for a thing right? I guess I am confused what "how many questions" are actually asking for since number are really only descriptive words. not nouns asking for things.
Thanks for the help.

The sentence lacks a subject.
How many? Is a question to acertain the quantity of something countable.

Re: Please help-Is this a complete sentence
So right, the question how many, is not asking for a person or a place or a thing, rather it is asking to define quantity, or the number of things.
The sentence you said was incomplete since it lacked a subject. So it should have been written " I know how many cars there are." or something like that? correct?

I'd call it a complete sentence.
A: Do want me to tell you how many there are?
B: I know how many.
Subject - I; verb - know; Complement - how many.

Re: Please help-Is this a complete sentence
Of course the subject is "I", and it is a complete sentence. The only thing it needs is context.
A...Does anyone know how many people will be there?
B...I know (how many).
