I don't think "he is taller than her" is correct because "than" is not a preposition, or this is what I was told
From a very strict standpoint it should be "taller than her" because you are comparing a subject with the object of the sentence, thus using an objective pronoun (her) to compare. In everyday usage it is also commonly acceptable to say "taller than she" as an incomplete sentence but complete idea. You could be comparing one subject to the subject of a second clause impling: "taller that she (is)".
Don't worry, this has been an ongoing argument within the academic community.
