Sometimes some mistakes are allowed while speaking (it depends on the level), but the same mistakes are crossed out in tests. Perhaps this happens because we follow rules from grammar books and our teachers are not native speakers.

There are many countries other than Britain and the USA where English is the native language, and many more where it is a native language.
Argentina is not one of them, but India is; and perhaps that's the difference.
