Default word order

Hi,
Can I say
During the Restoration took place two great calamities

Can the subject preceed the verb in the affirmative sentence like in this case or should I say During the Restoration two great calamities took place

can I use the verb took place or would synonims like happen or occur be more appropriate

Sorry, I have problem with the key of the question mark....

Default Re: word order

I would say:
During the Restoration, two major calamities occurred.
or
During the Restoration, there occurred two major calamities.
