a few collocations concerning the word "rumour"
Dear teachers,
Here are a few collocations concerning the word “rumour”. Would you be kind enough to tell me whether they all are admissible in colloquial English language?
A rumour is about..
A rumour is float..
A rumour is current..
It is rumoured..
It is whispered..
There is a report..
Word got round..
Rumours circulate…
Rumours fly…
Rumours spread..
Rumour has it that she will be getting married soon.
We heard a rumour that she will be getting married soon.
It is rumoured that she will be getting married soon.
There is a rumour that she will be getting married soon.
This rumour of him went forth…
The rumour runs that..
Here comes the rumour…
The rumoured disaster…
I have to run the rumour back to its source.
Thank you for your efforts.
Regards,
V.

Re: a few collocations concerning the word "rumour"
These don't work for me:
A rumour is float..
A rumour is current..
The rumour runs that..
Here comes the rumour…
Here, the verb seems out of place
This rumour of him went forth…
This could be OK in AmE or other variant, but it doesn't sound natural to me.
I have to run the rumour back to its source.
