Putting blood and sweat into my work and be satisfied with my results and accomplishments, this is what I aim for. I have always loved the feeling of completing my work and being able to be proud of it. I enjoy putting hard work into my projects and even more so when the results match my expectations.

I choose Software Engineering as my course because of my strong connection to various computer programs and the problems that are bound to occur with them. That is one of the main reasons why I would like to expand my knowledge of it. I would like to be able to help myself and others if problems occur. The other main reason is that studying Software Engineering adds perfectly to my school education. Since I attend a higher vocational school specializing on Civil Engineering I think that it would be great to combine my knowledge from school and Software Engineering studies. That is why I plan to work in a company specializing in computer aided design after these studies. My knowledge gained at school would certainly be beneficial.
The part of the course Software Engineering that interests me the most is Programming and Artificial Intelligence. Programming because I enjoy learning different computer languages and feel that it is a form of communication. And Artificial intelligence because it is a subject which importance is growing and because of the fact that to be able to create true Artificial Intelligence it is necessary to understand the human characteristics and behaviour. I think this is very fascinating.

I have always been a person that loves a good challenge. This and the fact that the United Kingdom offers high quality education while being internationally renowned was my reason for applying for an university abroad.
My hardworking nature and commitment was rewarded with a scholarship for students with migration background called START. Through the scholarship I acquired I am confronted with many different cultures. Therefore I am sure that I will not have any problems with adjusting to the different surroundings in the United Kingdom.

Due to my schools aim to be as close to reality as possible, I was able to take part in several projects and acquire team, leadership and time management skills. I was also able to gain profound presentation skills which is of high priority at school.

In my internships I was able to experience the procedure at work first hand and develop my communication, problem solving and research skills through the tasks I was given. Because of the valuable experiences I gained I would love to repeat this experience and would therefore love to take a industrial placement. I think that it prepares you very well for the real world and taking this year is from my view compulsory.

I am also part of the extracurricular class Network Management in which I learned how to create and maintain networks. Because of this I am responsible for the Wireless LAN in several classes and was able to gain profound problem solving skills.

In my free time I have worked with web design programs like Dreamweaver and Kompozer and obtained some basic HTML and CSS skills. This is actually what raised my interest in programming. And because of my great interest in Japanese culture I am currently attending Japanese classes and plan to take a year abroad in Japan.

In future I hope I can apply my knowledge from further education at work, of which I hope that it will be at a Software Engineering Company specializing in computer aided design and hopefully be located in Japan.
