Simple present
Hi
I have a question please about this :
" When an organization selects a single, primary target market and focuses all resources on it"
My question is, why in the sentence the writer did not say select instead of selects and focuses instead of focus ??!!
Why did he use simple present with it !!???
Thanks in advance

The writer considered "organisation" to be a singular collective noun, and used the appropriate form of the verb.
The writer used the present simple because, presumably, s/he was talking about something that generally happens.
