improving the structure of a paragraph

I am wondering if someone can improve the style of this paragraph. I feel that the structure is not strong enough.


X inquired about when the students who graduate in the fall took the Y exam. Z answered that the current graduates took the test during this semester before the completion of requirements but it will become a standard procedure in the future to give the exam during the junior year.
