Smile REASONS FOR LEARNING ENGLISH!?

hi,

I am interested about your ideas about learning English. Please enumerate as much reasons as possible for learning English.

Some of my ideas:

-If we learn English, we can communicate with foreiners. ( when we go abroad)
-Most of the movies are in English, so If we know the language, we are no more forced to concentrate on the subtitle but we can watch the images freely.
-Most of the songs are in English. I think that it is useful to understand the message of each song, not only its rythms.

Please feel free and share other reasons for learning English?

Thank you in advance,

Madox

I have to learn English as I'm living (have immigrated) in a country that English is it's major language, at work to communicate with other people, ...

Even I hadn't immigrated, I would have learn English to communicate people on internet, when traveling also for watching/enjoying movies/TV shows.

I learnt English as a baby because that's what my parents and older brother spoke. It's my native language.

  • English makes me find a better job. It is better paid to work for foreign funded companies than for Chinese funded companies in China.
  • English can boarden my horizont. (1) I can learn a lot of things aboard via Internet searching; I don't completely believe our media outlets. (Of course, I also don't completely believe Western media outlets.)
  • English made me more love my country- China. The more I learn English, the more I love China. (I learn the outside world via English & lnternet. I found some Westerners look down upon on China; while some amaze the achievements of China. )
  • English let me know a Western friend online, who is so great!
  • English made German more easier to accessible. Many words of them are quite close. (I don't have time to learn German language. I hope to seriouslylearn German.) English is also an advantage to learn other languages.
  • English let me know Western cultures and manners. I don't swoon for Western cultures, but I think there are strong points in both of two cultures. I'd like to adopt positive sides of English culture and manners.
  • English made me be able to introduce REAL China to my foreign friends. I think West media outlets have biased against China. I am quite angry about those distorted irresponsible reports.
  • I can record my secrets in English. If my Chinese friends cannot read English, my secrets are safe. Oops, I think more and more Chinese are English literate nowadays.
  • It is easier to learn DOS (computer) if I know English. Many computer programmes are written in English.
  • Many theses should be written in English.
  • English can make me enjoy English literature, music, cartoons, etc.
...
