impulse
Last week I was writing an email to my friend's wife and discussing something in general, and the topic of shopping came along. With reference to shopping I asked her "btw, how frequently does your impluse kick in" - to which I got a reply back saying "WHAT? No you did not say that right?"
Is "impulse kick in" a slang for something else or is it inappropriate to use it in general.

It does not mean much to me. Did you mean something like, "How often do you buy (something) on impulse?".....?

Re: impulse
yes, exactly, I meant "how often do you buy something on impluse". But I want to know is the statement "how frequently does your impulse kick in" mean anything vulgar in USA..specially the words "kick in".
