Use of Articles
Hello,
I have a few non native English speaking employees working within my office (located in Vancouver, Canada) who can usually write passabe English, but struggle with the use of articles. Can someone suggest a good reference for article usage that is specifically written for non native English speakers?
Many thanks,
David.

Re: Use of Articles
Articles are very difficult indeed for learners. . Michael Swan is very sound in his Practical English Usage, but, in my third edition (OUP, 2005) he takes 16 pages, 10 sections and 57 numbered points to cover the topic. Section 9 has the title the (difficult cases), and section 10, special rules and exceptions, has 19 numbered points!
Good luck.

That seems like a good reference handbook. Thanks.

I find it invaluable. Here's a little more about it: 'Practical English Usage' by Michael Swan

Neither pretty nor pointless.
