Smile before vs until?

"she had had 3 plastic surgeries in the hospital (before) she had a beautiful face."

could you replace 'before' in above sentence with 'until'?

thank you in advance.

Don`t mind if I do...

Hello hyunminjeong, the short answer to that is NO. My long-winded, inarticulate answer would be:
The sentence makes sense using the word "before", but is kinda "clunky". Try this instead:
"She had to have three plastic surgeries before she had a beautiful face." This implies that she has already had three plastic surgeries, and is now beautiful.
If you want to use the word "until", try this:
"She won`t be beautiful until she has had three plastic surgeries."
This implies that the surgeries are yet to happen, therefore she`s not yet beautiful.

Make sense?

You could use 'until', ut it would be in a different position:
She wasn't beautiful until she had had three plastic surgery operations.
