Question:
- Which is correct?
[list:3ed308ae5c]a. she puts so much oil in food
b. she put so much oil in food
[/list:u:3ed308ae5c]
The answer is that either is possible, depending on context. (However, you need the definite article (the) in either case.)
- a. She puts so much oil in the food she prepares that you can't taste anything else.
b. She put so much oil in the food she cooked that I can't taste anything else.
Does that help?

Additionally, we can that the third person verb form in the simple present takes an "s", while in the past it does not.
He put it there. - past - no change in the past - irregular verb
Whenever he makes tomato sauce, he puts fresh garlic in it. - present - third person - 's' form

I thought that too, both are correct as long as one is present tense and one is past tense..
