Default Learning and Aquisition

Just wondering what your thoughts are on the differences between these two concepts?

I have been thinking about it for years, and am still stumped!

Any ideas would be interesting!

They are often used interchangeably- people learn languages, but SLA stands for acquisition. Sometimes, acquisition is used to denote effortless learning, and learning can be used to imply a greater degree of understanding. I think they are used in so many ways that there is no single distinction.

Hi Sivy,

Of course the terms "learning" and "acquisition" are two different things. Let us see the difference between these two terms:

LEARNING is a conscious process of accumulating knowledge in a language.
Example: Mathematics is LEARNED(not acquired)
but
ACQUISITION is a unconscious gradual development of ability in a language.
Example:Children acquire language through a subconscious process during which they are unaware of grammatical rules.

Hope, these might be helpful...
