Wink corpus linguistics

hello!this is manuela from Italy.I'm preparing my thesis to get the university degree.it consists on comparing 2 corpus, the first one, created by myself, which is a collection of 500,000 words from magazine articles, the second 0ne is the FROWN corpus. i have to describe the characteristics of gossip magazines but on the internet I have found anything.i know that the register is informal and it is addressed especially to women because they like everything about rumors, but i don't know what to say about other aspects of language etc.
i would be grateful if you could help me !
thank you very much!

Why don't you start by comparing the language of gossip (rumour, scandal, sex, etc)?

Hi!

It might be relevant for you to go back to the etymology of the word 'gossip', to begin with. Also, I don't know what your thesis really is about, but you could discuss the issue of gender differences in the language of gossip magazines as regards the use of language and the comprehension of the text (oral or written).

Manuela, have you seen this?

Male gossip and language play in the letters pages of men's lifestyle magazines

Take a look at the sources listed here: Gossip - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

All the best.
