Hi, my friend who helps me learn English has a problem with the following sentence and I hope someone can help me/her.

Almost as a consequence of the multi necessities that five years of crude conflict caused upon the nations involved...

Her question is - can conflict be caused upon a nation; is this correct English?

Thank you

It's not a very good or clear sentence.

It is the conflict that caused the necessities. "Caused upon" is not correct. Without knowing the rest of the sentence, I can't suggest a re-write.

I can say that it needs to be "multiple necessities" or "many necessities."
