Statement Of Purpose - M Sc Admission Application
This is my first post, I have read the Forum rules and so on, so I hope I would not make any mistake (Is this construction correct?, I think it is subjunctive, I always have problems with that!).
Could you please help me to check my Statement of Purpose? Also let me know wheather this sort of format is ok or it should be in some sort of letter type format? This is for a Norwegian University.
Thank you in advance for your help.
Statement of Purpose
My decision to pursue graduate study in Norway is underscored by my desire to be a part of the graduate program at your institution. Telemark University College offers the flexibility needed for such a vast and rapidly changing field. The research facilities and the faculty at the university are par excellent.
Process and Energy is an industry that has changed our lives. It has now changed the way we have looked at things as e looked in the past. Environmental issues relating to this industry also getting serious that is why environmentally-friendly energy production is one that is going to shape our future for centuries to come. Hence my desire is to do masters in process engineering or in energy and environmental technology.
As you can see from my CV, my academic and internship experiences are related to the study of process technology, oil and gas industry(upstream and downstream both) and energy. For my masterís thesis, my research interests are focused in these areas: topics like Optimization of chemical processes, sustainable energy technology, CO2 capture technology, multiphase flow technology and waste water treatment. The ideal research topic for me would be aimed at carrying out deep analysis of Energy optimization of CO2 removal from gasses by making use of theoretical and simulation tools. A masters in process engineering or in energy and environmental technology is the next logical step.
However, these are just preliminary ideas about my research interests. I do not have any specific topic in mind yet, which gives me enough flexibility to select my specific research topic from a range of options within those broad areas. In fact, I am aware that TUC provides complete facilities for the topics very similar to my own interests.
During the alumni of The German Academic Exchange Service (Deutscher Akademischer Austausch Dienst - DAAD), held in Islamabad Dec-2010 where I got the opportunity to attend a couple of workshops through personal contacts, I have come across several scientists. Most of them work in different areas of process and energy sector. Interactions with them have made me realize the vastness and the scope of these fields. My discussions with them convinced me that specializing in process or environmental technology will suit me very well.
Pakistan is a developing country and it has been struggling with many problems during the last decade especially in energy sector. To serve the needs of this developing industry and more important its vast population, development in process and energy technology is going to become of utmost importance. Thus conditions here are very conducive to supplement my aspirations when I return after completing my graduate studies.
