Can you call the plug part of an adapter the head. Kind of like how there's a shower head.

Adapter head. Or does it have to be plug.

Like the head part with the teeth that plugs into the outlet.

Does this makes sense?

It's "an adapter" and not "a adapter". Use "an" before a vowel sound. Also, after "does", the bare infinitive is used.

Example:-
He does write well.
He did write well.
But, he writes well.

Neither a teacher nor a native speaker.

Yes, sorry, but that was a typo! Thanks for correcting my mistake.

In general, in electrical and electronic equipment, the adaptor/joiner/converter with pins is called the male part, the bit with sockets is the female part. But 'plug' and 'socket' are the most common terms (for me) for the connection of a major appliance to a wall outlet.
