Is this sentece correct? Doesn't "which" have to be inserted between "city" and "the"?
I think these are possible, but the example is rare.
1.Salsburg is the city where The Sound of Music was filmed.
2.Salsburg is the city which The Sound of Music was filmed in.
3.Salsburg is the city in which The Sound of Music was filmed.

ex)Salsburg is the city The Sound of Music was filmed in.

Nope, what they have used is correct.

It could also be done as 'Salsburg is the city where The Sound of Music was filmed'.

It helps to remember the spelling if you pronounce it right. If you do, you might - mistakenly - write 'Saltsburg', but at least you'd be making an effort!

But at least you'd be closer to it etymologically!

The "in which... was filmed" is also perfectly correct, just less natural.
